POCONO REGION LOCATION
The Kindness Cottage opened its doors on August 20, 2022. The need for support to foster families across northeast PA was critical. Having over 100 youth already registered from this area who were traveling to the Emmaus location, we knew a second branch was necessary. Liz and her team answered the call to support these families and have developed a team of trained and vetted TKP volunteers to support her. Dozens of children have already been served since opening in August.
FOSTER CARE JOURNEY
My husband (Craig), our 3 biological children, and I started our foster care journey in 2012. We have worked with Monroe County Children and Youth that entire time. From the time we started, we never had an empty bed in our home. We have fostered 32 children. Each one of them holds a special place in our hearts. Three of the children that came into our home have become forever kids! After our third adoption, our home had to close its foster journey for a time. This was due to Pennsylvania law of no more then 6 children under 18, in a household. We cherished the time our family had as a foster family.
Craig is the Lead Pastor of Christian Life Assembly (Stroudsburg, PA). I am the Outreach Coordinator. We have worked at this church for over 16 years. As our hearts grew for the children in foster care, so did our church's heart. They get behind every event and project that comes our way. They work hard to come up with creative ideas to make every person feel loved and cherished. Our community involvement has been a team effort.
NEXT CHAPTER - THE KINDNESS PROJECT
We are always looking for new ways to be involved. We have seen a huge need to help serve the foster and kinship families of our area. The work and time they are pouring into the children can be very hard and lonely. We love the heart and mission of the Kindness Project. The way that you wrap each family in "kindness" so well. I am looking forward to learning more about your program, so we (personally) and as a church can become more involved.
